We are a 1928 Book of Common Prayer congregation under the care of the Diocese of Mid-America within the Reformed Episcopal Church. The 1940 Hymnal is our primary songbook, supplemented by the Hymns of Promise.
Founded in 2004 by Rev. Jim McTaggart under the care of Bishop Hartley, in the Missionary Diocese of the South and Ozarks, a diocese in the United Episcopal Church of North America. After 22 years of dedicated service in the ministry, Rev. McTaggart retired as Rector in January 2024. That February, Rev. Dr. Anthony G. Cirilla was appointed as Priest in Charge by Bishop Sparks and the vestry. In March 2025, Rev. Dr. Cirilla was instituted as Rector by Bishop Hutchens on behalf of the Diocesan Bishop of the Missionary Diocese in the South and Ozarks. In September 2025, the congregation voted to join the Reformed Episcopal Church and was subsequently taken under the care of the Presiding Bishop of the REC and Diocesan Bishop of the DMA, Bishop Ray Sutton.
St. Joseph Anglican Church upholds historic and traditional Episcopal doctrine in line with the 39 Articles and other Anglican formularies, as well as the theology of the Book of Homilies. We believe that the Bible is the revealed word of God, that the Gospel of Christ is the only means of salvation, and that liturgical worship honors the Lord “in the beauty of holiness” (Psalm 96:9). We are grateful to our Founding Rector, founding members, and the Bishops in the UEC for making that possible.
